AGRI EXPORT ZONE (AEZ) - ORANGE

  • Proposal to set up an AEZ for Orange for promoting exports of fresh Orange (Nagpur Orange or Mandarin Orange) and Orange products made from the State.
  • Maharashtra leads in Orange production in the country with 87,400 Ha area and 11,13,700 MT (48 % of total production in the country).
  • Production of Orange is concentrated in Vidarbha region of the State.
  • A number of activities have been suggested under the AEZ to facilitate export including interventions in production, post harvest practice and marketing areas.
  • Total project outlay of Rs.2875 lacs over a 5 year period with financial support from Govt. agencies estimated at Rs. 1399 lakhs and investment from Private enterprenuers at Rs. 1476 lakhs.

Present Status

  • GoM has announced the creation of an AEZ for Oranges covering the Districts of Nagpur & Amravati.
  • MoU has been signed between GoM and GoI on 4th July 2005.

    Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board in coordination with State agricultural department, Local APMC and cooperative societies continousely arraning training and demonstration programs in rural area to increase export quality production. The training booklet prepared with the help of experts covering pre and post harvest technology of concerned crop is circulated freely among farmers likewise 2046 farmers were trained in 29 one day training programs during the year 2005-06.
  • In the year 2006-07 from August'06 387 farmers were trained in 07 one day training programs at -
    Dist. Amrawati - Achalpur, Dhamangaon
    Dist. Nagpur- Savner, Katol
    Dist. Wardha- Talegaon,Devali.

    MSAMB with the help of APEDa and APMC has planned to errect Orannge Export Facility center at Aashi Dist. Wardha.
