AGRI EXPORT ZONE (AEZ) - KESAR MANGO

  • Set up to promote exports of best quality Kesar Mango and its products from the State.
  • Production of Kesar Mango is concentrated in Marathwada and parts of Western Maharashtra region (34,529 Ha area with 133,635 MT production).
  • Kesar Mango have been exported in Reefer and CA (Controlled Atmosphere) containers by sea from the State by the MSAMB on trial basis and subsequently as a commercial activity by private exporters.

Brief Details

  • A number of activities have been suggested under the AEZ to facilitate exports, which include interventions in Production, Post Harvest practices and Marketing areas leading to an Integrated approach for export development.
  • Creation of and up gradation of post harvest infrastructure required for Exports.
  • Total project outlay is Rs. 1855 lakhs over a 5 year period, with financial support from Government Agencies is estimated at Rs 1095 lakhs and investment from Private entrepreneurs at Rs 760 lakhs.
  • Expected to result in increased exports of 4000 MT of Kesar Mangoes over the next 7 years valued at Rs. 1600 Lakhs.

Present Status

  • GoM announced the creation of AEZ for Kesar Mangoes in the Districts of Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Ahmednagar and Nasik.
  • The MSAMB, the nodal agency named by the GoM, submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to GoI through GoM.
  • MoU signed between GoM and GoI on 11 April 2002 at Mumbai.

    Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board in coordination with State agricultural department, Local APMC and cooperative societies continousely arraning training and demonstration programs in rural area to increase export quality production. The training booklet prepared with the help of experts covering pre and post harvest technology of concerned crop is circulated freely among farmers likewise-

  • During the year 2003-04, 2295 farmers were trained in 38 one-day training programs.
  • During  the year 2004-05, 2778 farmers were trained in 43 one day training programs.
  • During the year 2005-06, 2646 farmers were trained in 43 one day training programs.
  • In the year 2006-07 from August 2006 onwards 786 farmers were trained in 09 one day training programs at
    Dist. Latur -Fattepur,Chikhurda, Nilanga.
    Dist. Aurangabad - Chinchpur, Umrawati, Sultanwadi
    Dist. Jalana - Savargaon, Hasnabad
    Dist. Beed - Talegaon .

Investment- MSAMB with the help of APEDA, New Delhi and APMC Jalna developed Mango export facility center at Jalana. The facility center having following different facilities-
Precooling= 5 Mts.
Cold storage= 25 Mts.(2 chambers)
Ripening Chamber= 5 Mts.
mechanical Handling Syatem= 1.5 Mts/hr.
